Ashford and Simpson who combine outstanding writing-producing talents with first-rate perform ances sing "Tell It All" and "Somebody Told A Lie" an original tune from their latest album Come As You Are. Their first hit record, DID YOU BUY YOUR CLOTHS "Let’s Go Get Stoned," written for Ray Charles, brought them to the atten tion of Motown Records where they turned out such successes as "Ain’t No Mountain High Enough," "Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing," "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody Hand)" and "Remember Me." Kool and the Gang give one of their most unforget table performances with their renditions of "Love and Understanding" and "Sugar." These versatile instrumentalists will be re membered for earlier re leases, "Funky Man," Let The Music Take Your Mind" and "Higher Plane," all written, arranged and produced by the group. For his initial Soul Train appearance, Ronnie McNeir entertains with "Saggitarian Affair" and "I’m Your Lover." Don't be SALiSBLKY Ronnie Wood, Salisbury High's outstanding defensive half back, has signed a football grant - in - aid with Living stone College's Fighting Bears. Wood, who stands six feet weighs 160 pounds, won All-Rowman County and All-South Piedmont Conference for the past two years. "He’s the best defensive back I saw in the Piedmont area," said coach Baxter Holman after signing the Hornet star. "He can be a starter for us next season." Holman, whose Bears have ranked among the best in the nation’s small college ranks on defence for the past three years, said Livingston will lose four de fensive backs by gradua tion. They are Lawrence McDuffie, Ronald Mc- Cleave, Kenny Pearson and Garcia Gilmore. "W'e feel Wood is going to h^lp us at a deep defen sive position," Holman pointed out. "There’s a job open there, and we think he can do it for us. We also think Dave Robertson (of East Rowan who recent ly signed with the Bears) will help us a lot at a posi tion in the secondary."
